Liz Lerman’s Critical Response Process - “a method for getting useful feedback on anything you make, from dance to dessert…” Looking for a new way to talk about art? Share your opinions with others, engage in interesting dialogue, receive useful feedback, or ask juicy questions?
This is your chance to get the dish on this famous process currently being adopted by university profs, public school teachers, theatre directors, and choreographers across the United States. A four step dialogue format designed by Liz Lerman in the 1980s, the Critical Response Process is a means to encourage positive dynamic discussion in a supportive environment. “Giving feedback on someone’s work, I felt like my perceptions were flipped around - this was really intriguing and exciting to me. Receiving feedback on my own work, I felt fully supported in a way that allowed me to question it from a new angle, and it left me inspired to return to the studio.” - Critical Response Participant.
The evening takes place as a brief introduction to the process, an open showing of new work by guest artists, and then an implementation of the process as a 30 minute feedback discussion facilitated by Laura Hicks. If curious, or interested in attending please RSVP at lauraliann@yahoo.ca and we will happily send you more information. Please also contact me if you are interested in showing your work as part of the process. This project has been supported by the BC Arts Council and the Canada Council for the Arts.
