Millions of adults and children have watched the beloved Disney Films for years. These films have been shown in our homes as early as 1937, when the first Disney movie, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”, was released. Disney Movies were thought to be fun, family movies, suitable for even toddlers. But now speculation of dirty and inappropriate subliminal messages lingers around these movies. You can look for these in, The Rescuers, The little Mermaid, Aladdin, The Lion King and Alice in Wonderland. Such subliminal messages can be seen and or heard.
In the little Mermaid, you can clearly see the shape of a penis in the castle. This can be seen on the original (not the new) front cover of the film, shown in this picture. As you watch the movie, you can see other things hidden. In the wedding scene, you can see the priest getting an erection. Supposedly, this is his knee sticking up, but that’s not the image you see. Also, If you pause one scene in the movie you can see the characters Donald, Mickey and Goofy. This just goes to show that, dirty or not, there are things hidden in this movie.
Images, phrases, and words referring to sex is plentiful in a lot of movies such as The Rescuers. The film pasts by one scene to fast, but if you pause it in the right spot you can see the top half of a naked woman. You can also find the word “sex,” in The Lion King’s starry sky. Another one, is in Aladdin, where it is speculated that you can hear Aladdin say “Good teenagers, take off your clothes.”
Of course, some of these are very debatable. If you go on Youtube.com you will see comments posted, debating one scene in the Wizard of Oz. When Dorthy and the other characters sing “We’re off to see the Wizard…”, people argue whether you can see a dwarf (someone playing the role of a munchkin) killing himself, or if it is simply a bird. Although it does not seem realistic that someone would commit suicide during the filming of a movie, it is still strongly debated.
And then there is Alice and Wonderland. What you think to be simply a wild dream Alice has, is so much more, and this one is clear. The whole movie is full of drug references. Here are a few;
*When Alice is trying to have tea with the mad hatter, he pours “sugar” in her cup and she tries to drink the tea, and her nose is covered in it.
*Alice goes “down the rabbit hole”- a term for using drugs
*The caterpillar is smoking from a hookah for crying out loud…
*The Mad Hatter wears a top hat. Years ago, when men used to wear top hats commonly, mercury was put on the hats to make them appear shiny. Men would inhale mercury all the time, but when inhaled, mercury can make you insane- or “mad”.
*The Cheshire cat says ” You may have noticed I’m not all here myself”
By now you guys should get the picture. You can just watch the movie and tell that something is a little off. But why put this into a children’s movie? Who knows.
Subliminal messages are used all the time in the media. Although you cannot see them unless pointed out to you, your subconscious can, and that’s the point. If they use sexual innuendo’s in films, such as the picture of the naked woman, or the word “sex”, your subconscious will get “tuned on” to that film I suppose. Your subconscious will relate sex to the film, which may cause you to go out and buy it. This is my theory on it at least, and it seems to make a lot of sense. I guess you just have to go by what your eyes see, for all of these “subliminal messages,” and just make up your own mind.
