The New Bohemian

Tonight I had the pleasure of discovering a delightful new restaurant in Kits. The New Bohemian’s contemporary sign caught my eye as I walked down Broadway looking for a nice place to have dinner. We entered the place and were impressed with the fresh style and clean-lined contemporary atmosphere, which was softened by the candlelight and suave music.

The restaurant is proud to highlight that they serve only organic meats and seafood that has the “Ocean-Wise” seal of approval. I ordered their yam fries which came with chipotle and garlic aioli dipping sauces, and foccacia bread with walnut-encrusted baked goat cheese on a bed of greens with sauteed onions and roasted garlic. The yam fries I enjoyed because they were not over greasy, and the chef made no attempt to liken them to crispy fast food fries and instead played off of the natural good flavour of the yams. The goat cheese was delicously complemented by the greens and the garlic and onions, and the bread was good too, again not too crispy or buttered.

My overall impression was positive: I enjoyed the atmosphere and could appreciate the good quality of the food. The one pound serving of yam fries was $6 and the goat cheese dish was $11. Not a bad deal, considering the quality and that I was satisfied. I reccomend The New Bohemian wholeheartedly for a delicious dinner a little on the chic side.
