My newest obsession over the past couple of months has only been accumulating zeal with time and I now feel the need to share it publicly, and I hope that this spreading of love will alleviate my growing fixation. They’re pretty, they’re sweet, they’re symbolic of whimsy and child-like carefree fun: cupcakes.
Cupcakes, by Heather and Lori, produces the best cupcakes I’ve ever had in my life. I have found myself looking for excuses to go to the cupcake shop and buy some for dessert for dinner at a friend’s, or any occasion. The ambiance of their cute shop at 2887 West Broadway is eyecatching from afar, with its bright pink awning that covers pink tables and chairs out front, and big windows with pretty pastel displays of their wedding cakes and party cakes (which are just as yummy).
As soon as you walk in you can smell the butter cream in the air. The reason I appreciate their cupcakes so much is the quality of their butter cream - it just tastes so rich. They don’t use preservatives in their baking which means of course you should eat the treats pretty soon, but as a result you will always enjoy just how fresh they taste.
While very pricy for students like me - $2.50 a pop for their regular sized cupcakes and $1.00 a pop for their bite sized mini ones - Cupcakes offers quality and delicious flavour. Even the experience of going to visit the cupcake shop for a pick-me-up brought out my girly side and is fun to do when I’m feeling low energy. Pretty soon the ladies there will know my name and regular order (always a chocolate classic like the diva or cosmopolitan, and the new seasonal one on rotation).
So, if you have a sweet tooth as well as an appreciation for quality like me, this shop is worth checking out. See their website for cupcake and cake information, and store locations. I hope that fellow sweet-lovers can appreciate this find as much as I do!

I love that place! It like a magical wonderland of yummyness…..I feel like im an movie when im in there. I’ve only been there once and bought a bunch of large cupcakes for my friend’s birthday. The cupcakes were great and so pretty….althought i wish some of them had fillings.
Yeah I feel the same! Magical cupcake land! You know, some of their cupcakes DO have fillings, like raspberry jam and stuff, though I’ve never had one that did.
