http://www.adl.org/images/anti-semitism/ukraine_anti_semitic.jpgYa, let’s buy a t-shirt and save the environment — that’s the second-most stupidest thing I’ve ever heard! The MOST stupid is this: “A Vision Vancouver motion to phase out plastic bags in Vancouver was opposed by the NPA in Council Thursday, despite past promises from Mayor Sullivan…”

Of ER patients who stand to live after surgeries, an average of 85% of them report they’ve had great service. Now, what happened to the other fifteen? What do these have to say, I’m curious. Aren’t statistics like this pretty useless when you think about it?

Some other encouraging news are that tar sands oil extraction is the equivalent of an oil spill on nature, or worse: “oil-sands production increases the PAHs in the Athabasca River, just as they were present when the infamous oil spill happened almost 20 years ago in the 49th state.” Some crazy facts: Number of barrels a day Canada produces in the oil sands: one million, Expected increase 10 years from now: threefold, Expected increase by 2030: fivefold!

Let’s fight green-house emissions by…BUILDING MORE ROADS, why don’t we, cuz that might speed up traffic and reduce idling car exhausts: “The provincial and federal governments have found a novel way to help Nanaimo fight global warming: spend money on roads….Improve traffic flow and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from idling vehicles.”

Canada is seen as anti-Semitic? And not just by the UN?: ‘A duly elected Canadian government has decided to boycott a UN sponsored venue, because the crimes committed by Israel and derogation of fundamental human rights in the occupied territories are on the agenda of the Conference. The same government is now apologizing for having acknowledged in a official government report references to the practices of torture committed by Israel and the US.” Wtf?

Why don’t unions take advantage of the internet? Cuz, “With a more confident, comfortable audience, unions can make use of the Internet in organizing in a much broader sense. Trouble is, for the most part, we don’t.” Could it be the age groups running unions, with over-40s still intimidated by “computers”: “the Internet isn’t yet completely imbedded in our culture (especially amongst the over-40 crowd)”.

I have to disagree - this sounds like the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard:

“spend money on roads, Improve traffic flow and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from idling vehicles”

Ya, they’re both right up there in stupidity — which is sad. I’m beginning to see all these discourses of “environmentalism” around and it’s worrying me immensely, as they are really getting co-opted by some conservatism.
