And yes, snow is indeed…”environmentalist.” A good snow-fall is great news for carbon emissions: peeps are taking transit instead. “There’s going to be some additional volume because more people were taking Skytrain and buses for that matter to get on their normally commute where they ordinarily take their car.”

Yes, let’s for GMO’s on people who fear them and see what happens! The question is: should GMO or GE foods be a topic for a strictly legal battle: “The WTO decreed in a complaint brought by the U.S., Canada and Argentina that the EU had violated its WTO obligations by creating “undue delays” in the approval of genetically modified organisms (GMOs).”

How do our courts deal with maternity leave cases? Here’s one: As is normal when it decides not to hear a case, the high court gave no explanation for its decision. Why is this? ” Under the federal Employment Insurance Act, birth parents receive a total of 50 weeks of leave when they combine parental and maternity leave but the same benefits are not available to adoptive parents.”

What are GE-free zones? These are local communities that are wholeheartedly refusing the SPP. What is the SPP? Well, it’s what is called the “Security and Prosperity Partnership” — another euphemism for big business: “North American governments alongside corporate interests push the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) forward, it should be noted that reference to “biotechnology” is littered throughout SPP literature.

Tar sands update: yesterday Vancouver had a brilliant protest against the Tar sands: “Alberta Premier Ed Stelmach was greeted at the Council of the Federation meeting in Vancouver today by protesters from a broad coalition of environmental groups”. Check their site out for more great info, but start with this: “Alberta is already responsible for one-third of the nation’s emissions and now their Premier wants to grow that even more.”
