I love to see a debate between politics and the courts — politicians making legal decisions and the SCC (Supreme Court of Canada) making political decisions on Asylum applications by US war-resistors. What kind of soup are we making here? Well, you would mix the Conservatives in with the SCC, for a strange combination…I’m AS surprised as you are!
We documented the near-three fatalities in Vancouver last December ‘07– but this time it took nothing like an auto to bring it home: just before 9 o’clock last nite a passenger fell onto the tracks as a Broadway sky-train entered the station. The unidentified person did not survive the incident.

How is everyone embracing environmental taxation? No matter how you slice it, this top-down scheme “would put about the same amount of money into government coffers as the GST does.” Well, in Calgary even, people are flocking to buy overpriced homes, the largest Oil-giant firms are whipping out dollars, and nobody seems to be buggings the hands that feed them. Could this be a precedent for the west?
The RCMP boasts — through circulated internal documents — that the 175-million dollar budget from the 2002 bid far too low to ensure proper security for the olympics. They ware waiting for funding to be approved before they release their budget? But, umm, shouldn’t it be the… other way around? First you propose a budget and…then you apply for funding.
