Welcome to a new face for what came to be a mutinous little groups of writers at BeyondRobson. This is our most recent post for startup purposes only. But there are dozens of posts already archived. Play around with the interface and direct any and all questions to editors@4TheRcrd.com (or just leave a comment). So now the new site is alive, and operating without “errors”. After checking it out — do you like it? You remember those nasty errors on BR, I’m sure; if not please see Movable Type today, it’s still kicking the bucket. As per our conversation before, if you’re still on the team let me know and I’ll fix you an account in no time with instructions on how to get started writing. Sara, Quentin, and Marnie are pasting their BR posts into the system as we speak. We’ve got a plan to upload about 500 articles before the official “launch”. A few writers are also on the team, Robert Telford and one or two others.
Here are more details:
Here’s the message I sent everyone just in case you didn’t get it. I message you directly because the everyone@beyondrobson.com address, under Tim’s control, does not include everyone on BR (this includes a small number of BR writers). Suffice it to say I disapprove with such politics and underhanded exclusion of certain members of our open writing community. A caveat, first off, the “we” below is the writers and myself, the c0-editor, and the “I” in this article strictly indicates myself. I am speaking for myself and the group which is sticking together in solidarity out of respect for their writing and the stability and transparency of the organization they write for.
The editors of BR have stepped down, including myself (all within the same day). I thought that I would message you directly to share with you a few developments Tim, the publisher (or who we call the “man behind the curtain”) may not have told you, as many of you didn’t get the messages the two previous editors have sent out…
As the outset, the reasons why we have stepped down is because the site is not run as transparently as we would like. My personal reasons are that Editorial duties require a working infrastructure and, where such an infrastructure is not present, our efforts are directly contradicted. As were yours when, after the hard work of writing, so many posts are simply invisible to the outside world.
Secondly, we fear that Tim is trying to kill the site because of the money he owes us, among others and because, in his opinion, the site’s performance (due to his technical difficulties) is lagging. Every time the site moves servers all the editors have seen site downs lasting for weeks and Never simply a weekend — and I personally feel that to put out for a third server change in one year is unconscionable for hard working as yourself.
Third, a small team of over 10 writers (thus far) has immediately assembled to move their efforts and posts towards a more stable platform whilst keeping an eye on BR until it is fully operable (albeit, without any editors), or until it dies fully. But we refuse to be dragged down with it, as we own our own writing and don’t want it to disappear into oblivion. This group wants to preserve their writing which they rightfully own, and are interested in moving it onto a platform that is crash-proof. Are you interested in joining the team?
Work with cool folk like the rest of the writers and myself in a totally transparent environment that works! — and say no to oblivion
the writers, collectively
Cheerio
