For all those evidently disgruntled at Transit, here’s something to celebrate for a change! Our lovely Vancouver engineers at the city have finally finished devising the 49th avenue bike path connector. I think it fits nicely with Bike Month in Vancouver, of which we’ve talked plenty @ Beyond Robson.

This little Bike Path route fits very symbolically in with all the crazy constructions there, where public transit and its increasing fares are slowly taking shape to the demise of many a Cambie merchants and, more importantly, many a Cambie riders. So this is something to celebrate, a safe passage among the chaos!

We propose y’all gather around the new bike path along south Vancouver, on 49th. Tomorrow @ Tisdall Park (49th Ave @ Ash), around 4:00PM, a flock of cyclists are gathering in solidarity to snack on some free cake! and enjoy a vast segment of new bike path. You’ll be happy to hear that there will also be other refreshments and copies of the new Bicycle Route Map. And yes you can have your own copy!
